Who is Steve Stuart?

Steve Stuart
I grew up in Ridgefield and attended Pleasant Valley Elementary School and Prairie High School. I played sports….and especially loved baseball. My parents are Joan and Ned Stuart, they still live in Ridgefield. Mom is a substitute teacher in the Battle Ground School District and dad is enjoying retirement after 30+ years working as an engineer for the Federal Highway Administration.
I grew up working as a paper boy delivering the Columbian and later worked for Tommy O at the old Chart House restaurant. Upon completing my college education at Linfield, and the University of Oregon, where I obtained my bachelors and masters degrees in Community Planning; I received my Law degree and returned to Clark County to raise my family and give back to the community that gave me so much. I wanted my son Jeb to have the same opportunities and advantages I experienced living in Clark County.
My work in Clark County reflects my love of this place whether working as Executive Director of local non-profits dealing with growth issues or as a coach for my son’s youth sports teams.. This experience provided me an opportunity to better understand issues facing families in Clark County..
A vacant Clark County Commissioner seat became available when Craig Pridemore was successfully elected State Senator and I was appointed to fill the position December of 2004. In 2005 I had to run for election to complete Craig’s term. In November of that year, voters elected me to fill out the remainder of the term which expires at the end of the this year. So now I am running for a full four year term.
